On Friday, Mrs. Gankosky’s Chinese class at DuBois Central Catholic School enjoyed eating pork dumplings and steamed buns filled with a mushroom and pork mixture. The food was cooked in a bamboo steamer. The steamer is a “pot-like” appliance, with two individual sections for food. The food cooked for 20 minutes, and then was ready to be eaten. The students also learned how to properly use chopsticks, and how to dip the food into a special sauce without dropping it. Mrs. Gankosky explained that in China food comes out in multiple small portions rather than one portion at one time. She hopes her students will take away these skills and use them on their trip to China.
