Treasure Lake Scores in the Top 4% Best Places to Buy a Home in PA

According to Niche.com, Treasure Lake scores in the top 4% for best places to buy a house in Pennsylvania. In 2019 it ranked number 55 out of 1,521 places. The ranking takes in to account factors such as, the Treasure Lake housing market, home values, taxes, crime rate, and the quality of DuBois Area Schools.

Contributing to Treasure Lake’s top ranking is the high median household incomes combined with low home prices, concluding it to be an attractive place to buy for young families and retirees. At over $65,294, resident median household income is 18% higher than the national median income of $55,322, and median home values are 13% lower than the national median, $163,400 to $184,700, respectively. Treasure Lake also has a high percentage of home ownership with 97% of residents owning their home while only 3% rent.

Treasure Lake earned an overall Niche grade of B, with housing earning an A-. The community also scored high with B+’s in ‘good for family’, public schools, and nightlife. Weather, with a C-, came in with the lowest score.

Coming in slightly above the national average, 21% of Treasure Lake residents hold a bachelor’s degree compared to 19% of the rest of the country, while 8% of residents hold a master’s degree or higher.

“As a previous real estate broker and investor, I am mindful about where and when I make a home purchase. I liked the statistical trend of properties maintaining and increasing their values in Treasure Lake.” says Karen Laub, a four year resident. “I call living in the lake ‘easy living. “There is always an activity for my family to enjoy without driving far or inviting too much expense.”

A semi-private, gated community, Treasure Lake boasts several unique amenities not found in traditional communities including two 18-hole golf courses, three lakes, beaches, pools, tennis courts, and more. “Our family enjoys the pools, kayaking, golf, and the activities the Lake offers. During the summer when others are vacationing here I often hear them say, ‘Can you imagine how great it would be to live here?’ With over 50 moves in my life, I can truly say I have immensely enjoyed our years in Treasure Lake.”
