God Is Good

It seems in recent times the once widely accepted thought of God being good is now under attack. The existence of evil in our world has lead many to believe that God is not good, if he exists at all. But can that be true? And if it is what hope is there?

Rest easy, these ideas have been around longer than most realize, and they have failed at each attempt. Many of us know intuitively this cannot possibly be true. If God is great and powerful, but not good, than he would be the worst kind of tyrant, withholding good at every turn. But that is not what we experience or have come to know.

We do experience good things in this life, even when things are not going according to our plan. This life can be full of life and vitality as we experience the majesty of a sunset, the hug of a loved one, or the taste of our favorite foods. God, in his goodness, has given us the ability to enjoy this life. Let us celebrate his goodness and be thankful for all he has given us.

But what if we have trouble seeing God’s goodness in our trouble? There is hope!  Not only is God good in giving us all the good things in this world to enjoy, but he is loving and gracious in providing salvation. John, an apostle of Jesus, tells us God is so loving he has provided a way for us to be reunited with him through Jesus Christ. This is truly good news for everyone! No matter how much or how little we have in this world, we can have hope that God has given us himself to enjoy forever!

We at Treasure Lake Church pray you have found this brief meditation encouraging. We invite all Treasure Lake residents, and those in the surrounding community, to gather with us as we worship the God that is so very good. We are located at 1427 Bay Rd. and gather weekly for worship services on Saturday at 6:00pm (children’s ministry provided), and on Sunday at 8:30am (no children’s ministry) and 11:00am (children’s ministry provided) as well as Sunday School on Sunday mornings at 10:00am for all ages.
