Open Auditions – Children’s Voices Needed, First-Timers Encouraged

Since this particular musical contains a children’s chorus, we look forward to working with many first-time actors, and helping them develop confidence in being onstage in front of an audience. Open auditions at the Reitz Theater are truly open auditions! We are a friendly group and happy to meet new people! You can come with a song prepared, or sing a simple folk tune, with or without piano accompaniment. For those uncomfortable singing alone, you can sing your audition with a friend or family member. You may be asked to sing a few scales or warm-up exercises so that we can determine your correct range and ability to match pitch. Friends and family members are able to be present for the entire audition. There are a few adult roles that have very limited or no singing requirements, however we would like to hear all auditioning sing. Sometimes people sing better than they think they do!

The rehearsal schedule, broken down by songs and scenes, will be available at auditions. Not every character will be required to be at every rehearsal until the last few weeks before the show. The rehearsal schedule for those involved in the children’s chorus ONLY is expected to be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7pm starting June 25th and running until the week of July 22, at which time it will meet more often.

We understand that unexpected conflicts and emergencies may arise, and will do our best to work with those situations. In general, we expect our cast and crew to attend most, if not all, of the rehearsals, and inform the director of conflicts at the time of auditions, and immediately if any emergencies arise. Due to this being a summer show, we understand that some may have vacations and events already planned. If this is the case, please feel free to discuss this at auditions and we will see what we can work out. We have dealt with this many times, and you may be surprised what we can work out!

We look forward to seeing many new faces, along with many of our long-time friends at our auditions! If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to email Becky Sensor at
