This Day in Treasure Lake May 1978 – Duffers Tavern Ribbon Cutting

Reprinted from FOCUS On Treasure Lake Living May 1978

Treasure Lake’s Vice President and Project Director, Hal Dorgan, realized the need for additional facilities at the Pro Shop and offered a small building for that purpose. It was put on a truck and moved to the Pro Shop last Fall.

The Developer is furnishing the materials and the Men’s Golf Committee agreed to pitch in and do the work necessary to convert it to a sandwish and beverage lounge. The joint efforts are resulting in gradual progress. The construction crew, under the capable direction of Bob Shick, is pounding, sawing and painting and plan to have it ready for the May Kick-off.

The response to our plea for help in finding a name for this building was great. FOCUS received a lot of very clever names and turned them over to the Golf Committees and Pro, Lou Michaels. They took a vote and the winner was DUFFERS TAVERN. The name was submitted by Chuck Weber. Thanks Chuck and to all of you who took time out to submit names.

Official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for May 20th at 8:30am. A Men’s Scramble is planned that morning at 9am with a dinner-dance that evening to start the 1978 season.
