On June 20, 2019 around 12:37 pm the Sandy Township Police received reports of a disturbance in the Wal Mart parking lot. It was reported that a male was observed arguing with another male and that one of the males had displayed a gun(pistol) and was waving it around. It was later determined that the incident started as “Road Rage” at the intersection of Rt. 255 Bee Line Highway and Industrial Dr.
The suspect who was identified as Michael McKendrick, age 36 of DuBois was a passenger in a gray Dodge Dakota, followed the victim into the parking lot and confronted the victim. McKendrick initially confronted and displayed a knife to the victim threatening him, the victim then grabbed a weedeater to defend himself. McKendrick then pulled out a black pistol and pulled the hammer back threatening the victim again. The victim then ran to his vehicle and fled the parking lot. McKendrick and his female driver then pursued the victim north on Rt 255. The victim along with other witnesses had called 911. The Sandy Township Police observed the gray Dodge truck in the area of Momingside Cemetery. Sandy Township Police along with DuBois City Police conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle just before Snappy’s on Rt. 255.
McKendrick and his female driver were taken into custody. After investigating and the pistol not being found on his person or the vehicle, McKendrick stated that he had thrown it out the window along Rt. 255. Officer’s searched the area and the pistol was later found in the weeds along Rt. 255. It was determined that the pistol was an exact replica CO2 BB pistol.
McKendrick was arraigned on charges of Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, Harassment and Disorderly Conduct before District Judge Micheal Morris of Clearfield. His bail was set at $50,000 secured and was detained the in the Clearfield County Jail. The female driver who was on probation was detained and charges are pending for suspected Driving Under the Influence of a controlled substance.
