Ham Radio Field Day a Success – Improvements Planned for Next Year

There were about 20 local ham operators that showed up to participate in the Ham Radio Field Day at Bimini Lake over the weekend.  The purpose of the Field Day is to make contact with other hams all over the US and Canada.

The event officially runs from 2:00PM Saturday till 5:00PM on Sunday. Since this was our first time, we shut down about 9PM Saturday night.

We made 121 contacts with other hams from 75 different ARRL Sections, the farthest being Louisiana.

We had a few visitors interested in knowing what we were doing, and accepted applications from several new Sportsman’s Club members.

We learned a lot and plan on making improvements for next year!

If you’re interested in learning more about the Treasure Lake Sportsman’s Club or the Ham Radio Field Day event, contact Judy Smith at (814) 371-2950 or checksandbalances@judysmithshomepage.com. The next Sportsman’s club meeting will be held Tuesday, July 2 at 7pm.
