This Day in Treasure Lake Summer 1971 – First Nine at Treasure Lake DuBois Golf Course Opened for Play July 4th Weekend

Reprinted from Sounds of Treasure Lake Vol. 4 No. 2

Art Meyers our golf pro and Bill Adams our groundskeeper, in a recent radio interview with James Drury had this to say about the new course:

“The course is tight… but it’s fair in that it’s short enough for a person to hit a decent drive and then be able to play the 2nd shot to the green fro a birdie or on the part 5’s they could play their 3rd shot to the green for the birdie. The greens are very good to putt. We have some problems with 2 of the greens but I’m sure that we’ll be able to rectify those by the time the year ends.”

Art had an ambitious program of special golfing events running this summer and will even be conducting some special golf tours this winter with Treasure Lake members. (For details, call him at the Pro Shop.)

Especially popular this summer have been Art’s Free Sunday Golf Clinics

… at 11:00 AM for beginners

… and 12:00 Noon for the advanced players.

His Pro Shop has a full time line of golf and tennis equipment. Famous brands of sportswear include DiFini, Izod Haymaker, Etonic, Jantzen, MacGregor, Munsingwear, Voyager and many others. Right now Art is running a late summer sale with savings of 30 to 50%. Titleist balls, regularly $15.00 per dozen are priced at $11.00 and a $300.00 set of clubs is $200.00. Similar savings are being offered on sportswear and tennis equipment.

Next year, Art will also offer as an option the Merchandise Club…an idea that has become extremely popular at clubs all over the country.
