The Annual Goodwill Golf Classic- Will be held on Monday, August 12that Beechwoods Golf Course in Falls Creek, PA. Backpack School Supply Drive – DONATIONS NEEDED – H&R Block is hosting a backpack-school supply drive for children in the DuBois-Brockway Area School District. Help kids succeed by donating new backpacks and/or school supplies for local K -12 students. NOW – August 15th. Donations accepted at: H&R Block (DuBois). If H&R Block is closed, please leave your donation at State Representative Matt Gabler’s office. Cash is being accepted and will aid in the purchase of backpacks or school supplies. August Afternoons at the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center. Every day from August 5-24, drop by the Weather Discovery Centerbetween 11-3 to enjoy a free activity with regular admission. Each week will feature a different weather topic that you’ll explore by performing experiments or making a craft to take home. Regular admission is $7 per person, children 2 and under free. The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre, Inc. (CAST) is excited to once again be offering its annual Seeds of Art Summer Camp for local students. The dates of this year’s camp are August 12-16. The morning session will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The afternoon session will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Both sessions will be the same, and students can only register for one session. Only 45 students will be accepted into each session, and each session is already half full. Eligible students will be entering grades 2 through 7. Registration is $50 per student, or $40 per student with families who have more than one student participating. Registrations will be accepted at the CAST office on Monday, August 5 from 5:30-6:30. Children’s Aid Society in Clearfield County Children’s Aid Society’s Adoption and Foster Care Training and Support Group will hold sessions the third Monday of each month from 6-8 p.m. at 1008 South Second Street, Clearfield. The program is held in conjunction with the Relatives as Parents Program. The schedule of topics is as follows: Aug. 19, “A Dad’s Story: Birthparent Perspective;” Sept. 16, “Preparing a Will;” Oct. 21, “Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder:” Nov 18, “Amy Finn, Child Psychologist;” and Dec. 16, “Holiday Party.” Participants receive training on relevant topics and can meet families who share similar joys and concerns.
